Meet The Certified & Expert Team Members

Dr Jan

Dr Jan Viljoen was born in Germiston and grew up in Stilfontein. He received his BVSc qualification in 1983 and moved to Polokwane in 1985. He and a veterinarian friend started Webster Street Dierekliniek in 1987 and after 4 years, in 1991, he joined Pietersburg Vet Clinic. His love for animals and interest in natural science encouraged him to become a vet. Dr Jan enjoys treating small animals and performing surgical procedures. He has a female Jack Russel at home. In his off time, he enjoys golf and cycling.

Dr Graham

Dr Graham Taylor qualified in 2020 with a Bachelor in Veterinary Science (BVSc). He was born and raised in Johannesburg. He moved to Polokwane in April 2022 and started at Pietersburg Vet Clinic shortly thereafter. He always wanted to be a game ranger, but his parents would not bite for the idea. He then decided to study BVSc; his thoughts were that he will still be able to work with animals. His favourite part of being a vet is the variety of patients he gets to work with. He enjoys any type of sport-, hiking, camping and being out in nature. He has two Border Collie’s; Java and Jess.

Dr Richard

Dr Richard Jansen van Vuuren was born in Randfontein and grew up on a small holding with different types of animals in Barberton. This is where his love for animals began. He qualified in the year 2000 and has a BVSc degree. Dr Richard moved to Polokwane in 2001. He worked at Fauna Vet for 8 years before he united with the team at Pietersburg Vet Clinic in 2009. He enjoys working out in the field with different cattle breeds. His favourite dog breed is a Labrador. He has one at home: Luca, who shares his dog life with Oreo, a Biewer Yorkie. In his off time, he cycles very often.

Dr Gavin

Dr Gavin Watson qualified in 1983 and has a BSc and BVSc degree. He grew up in Swaziland and moved to Polokwane in September 1987, when he bought Pietersburg Vet Clinic. From a young age he was surrounded by cattle and birds, and this is where his love for animals started. He enjoys working with different types of animals that he gets to see daily and how every day is different from the previous day. In his spare time, he enjoys farming, photography and bird watching. He has three Miniature Schnauzers at home: Mica, Schnitzel and Ushi.

Dr Dario

Dr Dario Cremona has a BSc and BVSc degree. He started at Pietersburg Vet Clinic on the 1st of December 2014 right after he graduated. His family is originally from Italy. His grandparents moved to South Africa in 1959. Dr Dario was born and raised in Roodepoort, the surroundings he grew up in played the biggest roll in deciding to become a vet. Reproduction of all animals is his favourite part of the job. In his spare time, he takes part in clay pigeon shooting and enjoys spending time outdoors. His favourite dog breed is a Dogo Argentino.

Sr Arona

Sr Arona is an animal lover through and through. She joined Pietersburg Vet Clinic in 2013. This is her first job after graduating. She and Dr Dario got married in 2019 and welcomed their first born, sweet little Aldo to their family in 2022. The Cremona zoo consist of 2 Dogo Argentino’s, 2 crossbreed adoptions and whatever animal Sr Arona has to hand raise at home. Sr Arona enjoys the outdoors, hiking, and jogging. Online shopping is her guilty pleasure.

Lu-Marie

Lu-Marie is an assistant that joined the team on 12 September 2022. She originally joined the admin team, but soon after, her real love to work with animals took over. She is a third year LLB student but after graduating she will study vet nursing to fulfill her passion for animals. She loves spending time with her family and going for hikes, loves to camp and enjoys trips to The Kruger National Park. She has two Dachshunds: Mila and Boeta and one SPCA adoption: Vlooi.

Erica

Erica joined the team in 2022 as a receptionist. She seriously loves watching series and movies. In her spare time she does makeup for brides and other special occasions. She is a proud grandmother of one grandson, whom she loves to play educational games with. She has two cats; Gingie and Bondtie.

Madelein

Madelein is a receptionist, she joined Pietersburg Vet Clinic in April 2018. In her spare time she takes part in sport shooting and enjoys gardening. She almost has a zoo full of animals at home: birds, dogs, hedgehogs, and a squirrel.

Lilo

Lilo joined the dynamic team at Pietersburg Vet Clinic in May 2018 and forms part of the administrative aspect of the practice. She talks more than her 20 000 words in one day. She loves to read and goes “book hunting” and in her spare time she plays ringball. She has 2 miniature Schnauzers: Bailey and Ozzy.

Christie-Lee

Christie is part of the administrative team at Pietersburg Vet Clinic since February 2023. She is a Dachshund lover and has two Dachshund crossbreeds at home; Bruno and Sharkie. Sharkie got his name because of his shorter bottom jaw. She enjoys making flower cuttings to add different types of plants to her garden. She has one boy that she adores to bits.

Jo

Johanli started at Pietersburg Vet Clinic on 13 January 2014. She is one of the manageress that represents the team and heads of the finance department of the practice. She has a higher certificate in business and economic sciences. She enjoys reading and is passionate about photography. She loves to spend time in the nature. She has two dogs, Joy and Hope and one cat: Katoen.

Domenique

Domenique has been part of the Pietersburg Vet Clinic’s team since January 2011. She is one of the clinic’s manageress in the HR department and stock controller. She is our inhouse Google for products, she knows everything about anything. She enjoys to spend time with her husband and 2 boys. She has a Scottish Terrier and a Bull Terrier at home.

Kennel hands and cleaners

The team at Pietersburg Vet clinic has 5 kennel hands; Joseph, Peter, Alec, Jabu, and Justice; and 4 cleaning staff; Rosina, Anna, Jennifer, and Patience, who make the workload weight lighter. Joseph has been part of the team since 1993 and Rosina since 2008. The partners and staff are all proud and thankful for each of them to be part of this dynamic team. Without their help, our clinic won’t be such a smooth running machine.

We have standard operating hours, however, a vet will always be on stand by for emergencies after hours. Our emergency contact no is: 083 631 7134
